NRA AFFILIATION

We are now affiliated to the NRA. Although already affiliated to the NSRA it was felt, as our members now take part in more varied shooting disciplines such as Gallery Rifle, Mini Rifle and Full Bore, that we should align ourselves with the recognised body who govern these competitions. As NRA members we will now receive regular information on matters pertaining to full bore and Gallery shooting. We can now offer NRA certification to allow our members to shoot on MOD Ranges and the National Shooting Centre at Bisley. We also now have the ability to hire ranges and target markers at Bisley with distances from 100 to 1200 yds. To minimise cost we have allocated 20 member slots for these certificates. More can be added at a later stage if required.

NOTE ON LETTER FROM SOUTH YORKSHIRE FIREARMS LICENSING

A LETTER WAS RECENTLY SENT FROM SOUTH YORKSHIRE FIREARMS LICENCING TO ALL SHOTGUN AND FIREARM CERTIFICATE HOLDERS UNDER THEIR AREA. WHILST THE AIM OF THE LETTER HAD GOOD INTENTIONS IN RELATION TO THE SECURE STORAGE OF FIREARMS THERE WAS AN ERROR IN THE RECOMMENDATION GIVEN.. WE HAVE CONTACTED THE NSRA FOR THEIR RESPONSE WHICH IS AS FOLLOWS:

"It is acknowledged that their second paragraph was not specific enough and
therefore, confusing. By all means put your firearms in store or even
perhaps transfer them to your club armoury if there is one, but you should
never leave your keys with anyone who has no authority to hold your
firearms."

IN PLAIN ENGLISH ONLY A PERSON HOLDING AN RFD OR A CLUB WITH ADEQUATE STORAGE FACILITIES CAN STORE YOUR RIFLES IN YOUR ABSENCE. FRIENDS OR OTHER FIREARM CERTIFICATE HOLDERS MAY NOT HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR GUNS UNLESS THE SPECIFIC FIREARMS ARE LISTED ON HIS / HER OWN CERTIFICATE.
